Canadian Favourite Sports for Kids
Parent page: Favourite Sports in Canada
Just as the adults in Canada enjoy their winter sports, most of their passion for this came about when they were kids. Many of the youngsters are quite enthusiastic about outdoor activities. The winters are long and cold with lots of snow and the kids have learned that if they don’t want to be stuck indoors during this time, then they need to get involved in some sports. Most of which they participate in are the same as the adults play.
Most sports require some type of equipment. Some kids like to participate in more than one sport. This can get expensive, but there are lots of opportunities to buy equipment that is used at some great prices.
Hockey is one of the favourite sports, and there are different opportunities for young ones. There are different leagues that they can join. Some of these can take them all the way through their younger years to where they may be able to qualify on a national level. Then there are house leagues that a good majority of them join. For those who don’t want to join a team, there are lots of public skating areas where a group of them can get together and play the game. Some even create a small ice rink on their own property and enjoy this sport there.
Although lacrosse is considered to be a summer sport, it has become so popular that it is now played all year round. Kids that are wanting to play this sport tend to join different lacrosse clubs for their age groups. It’s not a game where they tend to gather a few together and play.
This too is another favourite with plenty of opportunities for the kids to enjoy it at whatever level they like. There are plenty of pleasure rinks both indoors and out.
